WHAT A WEEK!

Man I have had the busiest week ever! Last weekend my little sister got married in one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever seen, she looked amazing and Im so glad I got to be a Groomsman! Her new hubby Bob is the best and I kinda already felt like he was in the fam so no huge change there! But the wedding was so great, and the Party afterwards was incredible!

It was great hanging out with all my fam, and seeing my older sister becky shake her money maker and get to spend some quality time with my brother nathan! What a weekend!

I got to hit up Target Field again and it was superb, im going to miss going up there a bunch this summer!

Oh I got some of my co workers into the Jonsi concert so now they owe me big! This week I have been just getting ready for our Album release weekend, which I guess I have been waiting for, for about 11 months since we recorded our album.. SO im very excited to being getting the chance to hang with friends and play some tunes! Its kinda bittersweet cause these will be the last shows for a while that DON plays with us.. Pretty sad but we are going to make the most of it! that for sure!

Saturday in the City

Man I had such a great day yesterday.. We hit up Des Moines for Record Store Day, Craft Saturday, some shopping, Mars Cafe's 4th anniversary SPACE PROM (which I played a solo set).

Anyway the day was just perfect first we did some shopping for Ash so she could find some shoes for Little Ashley's wedding which is NEXT WEEKEND! Then we hit up record store day which Ash and I had painted a PCC test pressing for the first person to spend 250 dollars at ZZZ records, and we were happy to hear the first person through the door who was also standing in line 2 hours before the store opened spent 250 bucks and got the test pressing... there is a photo above of ashleys great work!
Most of the COOL special record store day stuff was gone by the time we got there but Ash got some Pizza and I picked up the special addition of the new APPLES IN STEREO LP and a double JOE COCKER album!

Then onto Craft Saturday to see some local crafty types gear, and to say hello to our buddies the William's who put it on! It was a great group of Artist and I think Ash got a scarf and a new Monster Fashion Wallet..

I then did an interview with WE HEART MUSIC RADIO, which was pretty rad, and the guy asked great questions.. SO that was fun...
Then we headed over to the East village and did some shopping..
We ended up with some time to Kill before space prom so we headed to the HESSIAN HOUSE and had some brews with Marc and Angela... They also tested out some GAITER TAILS... GROSS..
THen the most random thing happend We met Marc and Angela's neighbor in the elevator and she said they were having a party at their place the next thing you know Im looking at SALVIDOR DALI art and drinking a hieniken in some random guys house... THe next thing I know, me and Marc are singing WEEZER Karoke at this random guys house, cause the Hiening were crowden his ICE BOX...

Any way it was a blast and Angela and Ash did a little GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN, which Angela turned into a spoken work rant which was pretty great, LEts just say Marc and I got a better score, BUT the dude who was plastered who had been golfing all day totally beat us doing some FORINER or what ever it was...

Then onto SPACE PROM, at Mars Cafe which totally ruled, Daniel B, really made this rule! they had SAKI Punch and tons of great decorations, and one Crazy Penguien/peacock dude! They had turned Mars Cafe into a Killer Space ball! WIth PHOTO BOOTH and snacks, Drinks, and Great music.. I had a blast playing and it was funny cause I asked for request and about 20 DONALD songs were requested... So I did a few of them!
ANYWAY it was a killer Day!

Now onto help Joe Williams move his stuff out of his storage unit int a UHAL!

Mission Creek and VOL 2

Man I had such an excellent weekend at the Mission Creek fest in iowa city.. Drank a ton of beers saw tons of good music and most importantly got to hang out with a ton of friends and see a ton more!
What a blast!
PCC had a couple shows and both were so fun! I also go to judge a litterary (spelled wrong not for comic value) DEATH MATCH...
which I was sat between some serious dude and a burlesque dancer.. Much fun was had! so much fun I missed this... on letterman...

Sade's Soldier Of Love enters the Billboard 200 at #1, becoming the group's eighth consecutive top 10 album. The group, named after lead singer Sade Adu, has never missed the top 10, in a chart career that began 25 years ago this month. Sade's consistency is remarkable because the group breaks most of the key rules of the music business. Like these, for instance:

Maintain a regular flow of product. Soldier Of Love is Sade's first studio album since 2000's Lovers Rock. And that was their first studio album since 1992's Love Deluxe. Most acts would be reluctant to stay away that long between albums. They'd worry that a similar act would swoop in and fill their niche. Sade has the confidence, and the uniquely strong bond with its fans, to go at its own pace.

This is a singles-driven business. Though Sade has sold millions of albums, it has had just five top 40 hits on the Hot 100, the most recent being "No Ordinary Love" in early 1993. Lovers Rock reached #3 and won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album without spawning even one top 40 hit.

Constant exposure is the key to success. Sade doesn't play the celebrity game. You've probably seen Sade less on TV in the past 25 years than you've seen Beyonce or Taylor Swift or Lady Gaga in just the past few months.

Soldier Of Love sold 502,000 copies in its first week, which is the greatest tally so far this year. It's 21,000 copies more than Lady Antebellum's Need You Now sold when it debuted at #1 two weeks ago. It's remarkable that two albums have had 400,000-plus sales weeks already in 2010, since this is only the sixth chart week of the year. This the first time in Nielsen/SoundScan history that two albums have posted one-week sales tallies of 400K or more this early in the year. Last year, it took until May 24 for the industry to deliver two albums that posted one-week sales of 400K. In 2008, it took until June 1.

This is obviously good news, but what does it mean? It suggests that if there's an album that people want, they'll buy it, even in an uncertain economy. It also suggests the album isn't fading away as fast as some of the pundits have predicted.

Man saw another fantastic lo-fi 16mm by the same director/writer of FUNNY HA HA which I just wrote about and it was so wonderful and one of the actors reminded both Ash and I of our friend TARA WOOD! Check it out DON you will dig it.. She was great in it as was everyone else! My friend Marc knows the asian gal in the film so thats cool, thanks to him for lending it to us! I must buy this and FUNNY HA HA...

Best Coast and Danelectro's

Man all these great, new lo-fi bands out there are playing Danelectro guitars, and I think its perfect for there sound! My buddy Robert from the Apples has always rocked Dano's too.. I have a 1965 Dano that sits in my basement maybe there is some Rich little indie rocker who wants to help me pay for my groceries out there... MMMM EBAY

Worst day ever but best video in a long time!

1. Had to be at vaud 10:30 for load in for a 6 hard core bands
2. Hard core bands made me feel like a charicter in Spinal Tap, so funny, Do they really think that dragon on the back drop is bad ass?
3. I slip on ice
4. I see someone get assulted COPS are called
5. Someone breaks door handle of vaud
6. MY van get towed! from a spot behind vaud I have been parking in for years!
7. I step on some gum..
there more but then again I dont want to depress everyone, sounds like ash will be dragging my ass back down to des moines today to get the van.. Then I may have to travel 45 minutes north to PICK Up Ian of ONe for the Team who is stuck at a FLYING J.. in a tow ban.. What a week!

some memories of FLO-DO

Well FLO-DO was wonderful, we had a killer hotel with 3 pools and some ponds and shit we hung by the pool a lot, played ping pong, drank ate.. It was a wonderful trip.. We also hit up Disney for a day and I accedently made ashley go on SPACE Mountain the roller coaster when her blood sugar was only 40.. She was way out of it, after words and I was like that was the greatest ride ever she was just staring into space! I felt bad, so I got her an Ice Cream sunday! She also rocked a CORN DOG for the first time since she was like 7..

SADE is back!

Yep its been 10 years since her incredible album LOVER ROCK came out, I played a song from it while Ash and her dad danced after our wedding and I also played the same song to Ash when we got engaged, Anyway enough about me, Sade new album is fucking great and I'm excited to see her playing on tv, and shit 51 years old, Ash says she looks like she 25! So awesome!


MAN I LOVE it that she is singing on Letterman with an 89 dollar SURE 57 mic.. That a girl!

man I have been bad again about updating the blog, mostly cause ash has not uploaded our pictures from Orlando yet, I had so much to say about that but to put it short we had an amazing time, and Orlando is pretty rad.

Happy B-day ms. Ashley Fleming the 1st!

Well before I post about ash tape and I's lovely vacation I wanted to give a big shout out to my lil Sis on her b-day... In 1984 we welcomed our new little sister into the world! I was 3 1/2 years old and I could not quite figure out what the hell was happening but boy when I figured it out I knew nothing from then on out would be the same! But In a great way!
Ash is such a fun, awesome person who speaks her mind and is sharp with a zinger when needed.. She is gonna have a big year cause in April she will be getting married.. Any have a lovely b-day sis.. I love ya and I cant wait to see you soon!

No Sleep Till Sunday

man I dont what my problem is lately but I cant sleep for shit, and when I do im having the craziest fucking dreams, last night I was in some waisteland of an earth and was a leader of the group of survivors and I had to kill this bad dude with a huge rock to the head, Then I woke and had a dream that I was missing some important new song for Haiti victums on Twitter..

This dream biz is getting old, so then ash wakes up, while im laying there and she was like you got something on your mind and Im like YEAH SLEEPING.. oh well i gave up got up at 4:30 and now Im watching this...

Another night

man I had another night of some freaky dreams.. Anyway, I wanted to remind my parents, even though they dont read my blog that 5 year ago today, we traveled from Indiana to iowa, it normally takes about 10 hours this trip, but after a huge blizzard and 3 different Uhal trucks, it took us 3 and 1/2 days.. What a miserable trip, but lots of car time with my mom! I loved it in Peoria when then said well we can give you a different uhal but its 4 feet smaller then the one you got, if you can fit what you got in this one in that one go for it.. so in a blizzard we just started CHUCKing SHIT into a new uhal! ohhhh memories!
Anyway thanks ma and pa you are the best!

the Worst Album cover EVER!!

ok so a long time ago, Im thinking about 2003 PCC opened for Motion City Soundtrack at the Ranch Bowl (RIP) in Omaha, Now we had just put out a 7inch and this was a pretty big show for us, lots of people there so I decided I would stay and try to sell 7inches while everyone else was in the Van drinking 40's...

TOTALLY a bad Idea on my part, I thought Motion City Soundtrack was about the worse band I had ever seen and I LOVE EVERYTHING! Man just brutal.. Never in my life did I think they could get any worse then that night, but OH MY GOLLY GEE they have topped it by putting out the worst album cover EVER!

BANG BANG this contract is dead!

man I have been enjoying my morning listening to Van Morrison's Bang Sessions, I got this from Marc H... Big thanks.. I had never heard the story about this, but early in Van's career (1967) Van was under contract to record a bunch of songs for this label Bang Records, so he sat and improvised like 27 nuggets of pure BLUE EYED SOUL, well kinda... But he does sing about having a Danish and Ring Worm, which RULES... GOT TO LOVE EM! Most of the tunes clock in at about a minute long, But with a voice like that YOu got love it...

MLK Jr. DAY

Well MLK Jr. is celebrated today, and I dont know what can be said that has not been said before.. I know our country still faces problems every day.. BUT I will say Im so glad I live in a time in our country that we are working on changing our Past problems of stupidity! I think MLK was an incredible person and Im so glad he had the courage to do what he did! Today if you got time watch this incredible doc about the night James Brown saved Boston Just by playing a show and getting everybody to put their energy into dancing instead of rioting! Long Live the Power of Rock N Roll soul!

Man this weekend was so incredible! I had such a blast...
Got to do some recording with my buddy Devin, Got to make Dev, Dave, and Ash dinner on Saturday and everyone Ate it! success!
Then we got to play Ladd (from the Vauds) 3 b-day party and it was the best yet for sure! Its always such a great Party but this year seemed above and beyond!
Cool bands, Fun Dj, lots of drinks and Friends and Multiple people celebrating b=days from Dave Larson, to Angela Hogan! It was a blast..
The Crowd really brought it and We had a blast rocking with Dave for the first time and having two people Derek L and Elliot Imes fill in for Joe..
Sooo Fun... Congrats to TJ on being this years man of the year!

Well Ash and I got home at 3am then up at 6 to shower and head North to Minneapolis.. For the Vikings game..
Ash slept on the way up and Listen to the remasters of Revolver and Abbey Road to keep me awake in the foggy drive and they totally pumped me up and the Vikes must have been listening to them in the Locker room as well Cause They were pumped! THey only gave up 3 points and rocked 34 on the board so.. IT was amazing! What a cherry on top to the perfect weekend!

Ash and I then went and hung in Uptown for a bit then headed home to dismantle our Christmas tree and bring it to the christmas tree Re-incarnation zone...
thanks to my dad for the vikes game, it was great seeing U, Cole, Tom, and Little Ashley,... Cole hope you liked your chirstmas gifts and make sure your little sisters get the theirs!

The Seed of Something Debut Show!

Man I had such a fantastic night last night until I found out my phone was not working all day, since I tried to switch over to my new phone but they wouldnt let me, NOW my OLD PHONE DONT WORK! AHHHHHHH

anyway I headed to the Vaud and got to see the debut show from the Seed of Something which features Stone Mills (ladds little bro) and Jasper Farlow.. And I got to say they were pretty f-ing awesome! The songs they had were really really good and they even did a GBV cover! I was so happy to see how excited they were after the show! Im so glad I got to see the first one so I can say I was there when....

Anyway Congrats to the Seed of Something on a fantastic first show!

the show was also great cause I got to hang with the Hogans, Derek L. and Ladd a bit.. much fun was had.. Not to try to get my cell working again!

Super Bad

Man I have been Super Bad about updating the blog lately..
I have had a great last couple of weeks though..
Ended up doing christmas at my parents house, on Jan 2 which ruled and as always my fam went over board and I got a bunch of Mini DV tapes so I got to get on filming some stuff and tons of other great things.. Way to spoild. We also hit up that killer Vikings game last sunday and Im so excited about the play offs!

The Pcc boy were here and we got a bunch of fun new recording in, at the house, We recorded 2 16 minute jams that turned out awesome... It was great having them... We also got to play a fun little new years eve show at the Des Moines Social Club.. Not to shabby! I also go a sweet Queen shirt from joe and some Killer records from Dev a new Van Morrison record which i adore.

This week Nancy (ash's mom) sent us a Gluten Free/Vegan Cake From Baby Cakes in NYC so that was super nice of her... she is a doll.
